This week's list is inspired by an annual tradition amongst those of us at 95 Customs. When we are in between race seasons, and the conditions outside don’t lend themselves to our traditional car-related activities, we look forward to watching the January Barrett-Jackson auctions in Scottsdale. We even make a bit of an event out of it as we get to the bigger days of Friday and Saturday. Someone typically hosts a group of folks at their house, and we all eat very well, drink very well, while watching and speculating as the most desired cars cross the block on Friday and Saturday night.
Well this is that week. The economy, while not full recovered is in much better shape than it was 6 years ago, and some of the most expensive vehicles ever sold at Barrett-Jackson are coming back across the block again, with Ron Pratte, one of the biggest collectors in the U.S., deciding to let go of the bulk of his collection. Pratte has purchased the most expensive car sold at Barrett-Jackson. In 2007, he paid $5.5 million for the 1966 Shelby Cobra Super Snake, 1 of 2 ever made. That car, and several others, are being offered this weekend.
Interestingly, as much money as that Cobra may fetch this weekend, its unlikely even crack the top 50 of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction. The bottom of that list starts at $6.5 million, and climbing.
So what cars make the top 15? You've got to be near $11 million to make that cut. Here they are, including pictures of the actual cars sold, in order from lowest to highest.
