Just over a week ago, one of our 95customs.com readers Anthony Astier stumbled across a treasure - several exotic Bentleys in front of the historic Hotel de France.
This was a group of Bentley owners who made the drive from England with their old bolides. They were staying 3 days at the Hotel de France at La Chartre-sur-Loir in Sarthe.
Astier shared, "It's an amazing place to see legendary cars every year during Le Mans 24 and every two years during Le Mans Classic. We can see Derek Bell every year and sometimes Jacky Ickx, two legends of Le Mans."
"The new owner of the Hotel de France is Martin Overington and he drove the Bentley Speed 6 car 12 at the 2014 Le Mans Classic. The same car was driving by Derek Bell in 2012. Martin Overington showed up in a Porsche 962 !"
"This hotel was an important place for the teams during Le Mans 24h in the past. It was the stop for many greats teams like the Gulf Team, Aston Martin, Jaguar, DeTomaso... In 1969, Jacky Ickx drove her Ford Gt40 Gulf by the road to the Hotel de France after winning the 24h! Amazing! I love this place!"
Easy to see why, Anthony. Thanks for sharing.
